One of the best pieces of advice I received about maturity was a statement my dad made recently. I came back from a family vacation and told him how much I worked during the trip. We only managed to hit the beach twice out of the six days we were there.
His response was simple: “That’s what you gotta do.”
It made me realize that my dad never taught me how to work, but instead, he showed me what it meant to have a strong work ethic. It’s true what they say, actions speak louder than words.
As the saying goes, “Give someone a fish, they eat for a day. Teach someone to fish, they eat for life.” Thanks to my parents, Geoff Gregory and Nanette Gregory, for setting a great example for me growing up.
